During a meeting of the Working Group on the Preparation of Comprehensive Legislative Proposals for the Organization and Conduct of Elections during the War and Post-War Periods, Irina Gerashchenko, co-chair of the European Solidarity faction, publicly drew attention to the violation of the principle of political proportionality in the formation of the leadership of the working subgroups.<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to her, during the hearing of the subgroup leaders’ reports, it became clear that none of them were led by representatives of opposition factions\u2014specifically, European Solidarity, Batkivshchyna, or other parliamentary forces. At the same time, leadership positions were concentrated among representatives of the mono-majority and, to some extent, the Holos faction, with some MPs leading two subgroups at once.<\/p>\n

Iryna Gerashchenko emphasized that the formation of parliamentary working bodies must be based on democracy and political proportionality, which are the fundamental principles of parliamentarism. She addressed the head of the working group, Oleksandr Kornienko, with this message.<\/p>\n

The European Solidarity faction insists that its representatives chair or co-chair one of the key subgroups on media, security, or international commitments. The faction has delegated Victoria Syumar and Maksym Savrasov to the group, who, according to Gerashchenko, possess the necessary professional experience and expertise.<\/p>\n

At the same time, the faction co-chair thanked the meeting for its fair and parliamentary moderation, emphasizing that without genuine opposition participation and adherence to the principle of proportionality, there will be no trust in the working group’s work.<\/p>\n

In response, the head of the working group, Alexander Kornienko, stated his readiness to take into account the principle of political proportionality and revise the composition of the subgroup leadership.<\/p>\n

European Solidarity emphasizes its consistent commitment to parliamentary democracy, equal playing field, and the participation of all political forces in the preparation of decisions that will determine the future of the electoral process in Ukraine.<\/p>\n
