History provides clear examples:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"441\" data-end=\"501\">\n<li data-start=\"441\" data-end=\"459\">\n<p data-start=\"443\" data-end=\"459\">Stalin\u2019s USSR,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"460\" data-end=\"477\">\n<p data-start=\"462\" data-end=\"477\">Nazi Germany,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"478\" data-end=\"501\">\n<p data-start=\"480\" data-end=\"501\">modern North Korea.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\t\t<aside class=\"shortcode-also\" data-title=\"Read also\" >\n\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/prm.ua\/en\/putins-new-years-address-what-the-dictator-lied-about\/\">Putin&#8217;s New Year&#8217;s address: what the dictator lied about<\/a>\n\t<\/aside>\n\n<p data-start=\"122\" data-end=\"292\">When a religious leader publicly brands dissent as \u201ctreason,\u201d it signals one thing: the church has been fully transformed into an ideological arm of a repressive state.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"294\" data-end=\"480\">The Russian Orthodox Church has long abandoned discussions of faith, conscience, or salvation. Today, it speaks only the language of denunciation, punishment, and \u201clegal consequences.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"482\" data-end=\"683\">The Russian Federation declares a \u201choly war\u201d against the West \u2014 not merely against a group of states or an alliance, but against a system of values rooted in human rights and communal responsibility.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"685\" data-end=\"849\">The concept of \u201cspiritual and moral security\u201d that Kirill invokes to shield himself, in practice, means control over thoughts rather than the regulation of \u201csin.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"851\" data-end=\"896\">This is a direct rejection of Christianity.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"898\" data-end=\"1081\">Christianity begins with freedom of conscience and the right to choose. The Russian Orthodox Church begins with the prohibition of conscience and the certainty of prescribed choice.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1083\" data-end=\"1198\">Where the church blesses violence against dissenters, religion ends \u2014 and the cult of the state begins, in which:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1199\" data-end=\"1262\">\n<li data-start=\"1199\" data-end=\"1220\">\n<p data-start=\"1201\" data-end=\"1220\">The state is God,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1221\" data-end=\"1240\">\n<p data-start=\"1223\" data-end=\"1240\">Power is truth,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1241\" data-end=\"1262\">\n<p data-start=\"1243\" data-end=\"1262\">Doubt is a crime.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\t\t<aside class=\"shortcode-also\" data-title=\"Read also\" data-right>\n\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/prm.ua\/en\/russian-church-sect-in-kyiv-have-ukrainians-passed-the-maturity-test\/\">A Sect, a Capital, and a Question: Has Ukraine Grown Up Enough?<\/a>\n\t<\/aside>\n\n<p>This is how the totalitarian systems of the 20th century worked. This is how internal terror is formed: first moral stigma, then legal persecution, then repression.<\/p>\n<p>Kirill&#8217;s statement is not an &#8220;emotion&#8221; or an &#8220;exaggeration&#8221;. It is a programmatic statement that legitimizes the destruction of any opposition in Russia, at the hands of the &#8220;spiritual authorities&#8221;. Russia has stopped even pretending that there is a border between the state and the church.<\/p>\n<p>The Russian Orthodox Church is not about God \u2013 it is in the service of evil, which calls itself the &#8220;state&#8221; and &#8220;values.&#8221; And when faith becomes a weapon, and morality a pretext for prison, it means only one thing:<br \/>\nSatan no longer hides behind a robe \u2013 he speaks live.<\/p>\n<p><em>On the eve of the meeting, Patriarch Kirill of the Russian Orthodox Church stated that the country needs a consensus around &#8220;the most important issues of our security,&#8221;\u00a0 for those who &#8220;fall out&#8221; of such a consensus, there is the concept of a &#8220;traitor to the Motherland.&#8221; In fact, with his statement, the patriarch supports political repression in Russia.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>As is known, Patriarch Kirill has repeatedly justified Russia&#8217;s invasion of Ukraine. After the mobilization was announced, he actually promised atonement for the sins of those who went to fight.
