On the night of January 9, Kyiv was subjected to a massive combined attack by enemy UAVs, which damaged residential buildings and infrastructure in several areas of the city. According to official information, 4 people were killed, and dozens of residents and emergency workers were injured.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was reported by<\/a> the mayor of the capital, Vitali Klitschko.<\/p>\n

The first reports of the attack began to arrive at around 11:40 p.m. on January 8. Vitaliy Klitschko reported that air defense forces were operating in the capital and urged residents to take shelter. According to him, about 15 drones were simultaneously detected over the city.<\/p>\n

“Air defense forces are working in the capital. Stay in shelters,” Vitaliy Klitschko said.<\/p>\n

In Darnytsia<\/strong> district, one of the UAVs fell in the courtyard of a residential building. A nearby shop was partially damaged, and damage was also recorded to windows in a high-rise building. There was no fire at this location, and no victims were initially found. At the same time, another UAV was reported over the central part of the city.<\/p>\n

Later, in the Dnipro<\/strong> district, a fire broke out in a non-residential building due to falling debris from a drone. In the Pechersk district, a fire broke out in a residential building, and at another address, cars caught fire in the courtyard of a high-rise building. Emergency services rushed to the scene.<\/p>\n

During a subsequent attack in the Desnyanskyi<\/strong> district, a UAV was recorded hitting the roof of a residential building on the 18th floor, and later on the 1st\u20132nd floor, where a fire broke out in several apartments. In the Pechersk district, debris damaged the facade of a 9-story building, without causing a fire.<\/p>\n

During the night, information was received about numerous calls from doctors to Shevchenkivskyi, Darnytskyi, Dniprovskyi, and Pechersk districts.<\/p>\n

According to updated data, in the Dniprovs’kyi<\/strong> district, a UAV hit a three-story residential building, destroying one entrance and causing a fire, and 29 people were evacuated from the building. Fires were also recorded in 16- and 9-story residential buildings, partial destruction of the roof of another building, and debris falling onto a playground and near a tram depot. <\/p>\n

In the Pechersk district, a UAV hit a 24-story non-residential building, causing damage at the level of floors 23\u201324 and a fire. In the Shevchenkivskyi district, a fire broke out in a non-residential building. <\/p>\n

Separately, there were reports of a shooting at a private medical facility in the Obolon district. Of the 26 patients at the clinic, 16 were transported to municipal hospitals in the capital. According to doctors, several victims were hospitalized, two were in serious condition. One man who was being treated at the facility died.<\/p>\n

During the second strike in the Darnytsia district, a medical worker who arrived to provide assistance to the victims was killed. Other medics and rescuers were also injured.<\/p>\n

According to<\/a> the State Emergency Service, 3 people died and 18 others were injured in the night attack, including 5 rescuers. Rescuers reported fires and destruction in Darnytsia, Dnipro, Desnians, Pechersk, and Shevchenkivskyi districts. In Dnipro, two people were found dead in one of the houses. Rescuers also rescued a family from Brovary region – a mother, father, grandmother, and a 5-year-old child, who were pulled from the rubble and taken to the hospital. <\/p>\n

As of this morning, 4 deaths and at least 22 injuries have been confirmed in Kyiv, including 5 rescuers. According to the National Police, the number of injured has increased to 24 people, including doctors and employees of the State Emergency Service.<\/p>\n

Police recorded<\/a> damage in Darnytsia, Dniprovska, Desnianska, Shevchenkivska, Pecherska and Holosiivska districts. Multi-storey and private residential buildings, a kindergarten, garage cooperatives, cars and infrastructure facilities were damaged. <\/p>\n

In addition, as a result of the strikes and damage to critical infrastructure, power and water supply disruptions occurred in certain areas of the capital. Emergency and rescue teams are working at all locations, and the elimination of the consequences of the attack and the documentation of another war crime are ongoing.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, Russia shelled the Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhia regions<\/a> . As a result of the prolonged and massive attack, emergency power outages were introduced. <\/p>\n

Later, it became known that in Kryvyi Rih, as a result of a combined missile and drone attack by the Russian Federation, the number of victims increased to 17<\/a> people, including three children.<\/div>\n
