This is less than, for example, in the city of Irpin, near Kyiv. But the territory of Greenland is like France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Austria, Switzerland, and Belgium combined.

But most importantly, the island’s population has no special sentiments towards Denmark. They don’t have much love for the US either, but in Trump’s logic, love can come through money…

And now, as Reuters writes, bribing Greenlanders is being seriously discussed in the White House.

What I was wrong about a year ago was the amounts. It seemed to me that Trump wouldn’t mind giving everyone an amount with six zeros. But Reuters writes about $10,000 and a maximum of $100,000. It seems a bit small, considering the scale of the deal! But maybe this is just the beginning of the bargaining.

But the scale of the negotiations has now surpassed all wildest assumptions. Politico writes that the EU is ready for serious concessions from the US regarding Greenland in exchange for clear security guarantees for Ukraine.

Well, no one would have guessed such a bargain a year ago. Even the biggest cynics of the past would probably blush with shame now if they looked at the current geopolitical bargain.

But everything is possible now. Trump would win the Congressional elections with such an exchange. For him, the option of political purchase is definitely better than a dubious military operation against allies. But the EU would also gain peace and quiet again, and it is clear WHAT Ukraine would gain from this. But what Denmark would suffer for is completely unclear. Probably, the entire West would be forever indebted to it for this sacrifice, like the land of a collective farm.

US “Platinum” Security Guarantees: What Trump Really Promised

Recall, US President Donald Trump confirmed the strategic importance of Greenland for the security of the United States. According to him, the island plays a key role in countering the growing activity of Russia and China in the Arctic. Trump stressed the need for a stable US presence in Greenland. He noted that the island is crucial for international security and the defense of the northern borders.

Meanwhile, the administration of US President Donald Trump is preparing a draft agreement on Greenland , which it plans to propose to the island’s authorities. According to The Economist, Washington is discussing the possibility of concluding a Free Association Agreement with Greenland with the United States. Such an agreement could provide financial support for the island and improve the living standards of the population in exchange for the transfer of security and defense powers to the United States.

Meanwhile, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen has called on US President Donald Trump to stop making claims about the possible annexation of Greenland . She stressed that talk of annexing Greenland is baseless. According to her, the United States has no right to annex any of the three countries that make up the Kingdom of Denmark.

Also follow “Pryamim” on Facebook , Twitter , Telegram , and Instagram .

• Materials published in the “OPINIONS” section reflect the opinion of the author of the publication, who bears full responsibility for the accuracy of the information.
• The editorial staff of prm.ua may not share the opinions expressed in the author’s material.
• The owner of the webpage in the “OPINIONS” section is the author of the publication.

Source: Author’s Facebook page When the story of the acquisition of Greenland was just beginning, I wrote a semi-serious post last spring about how the only way for the US to buy Greenland was to buy the Greenlanders themselves.
