Mass protests continue in Iran, with security forces using harsh measures against demonstrators. According to human rights activists, the death toll has exceeded 500 people and more than 10,600 people have been detained.<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to human rights activists, at least 544 people have been killed in the crackdown on nationwide protests in Iran, including 496 protesters and 48 security forces.<\/p>\n

More than 10,600 people have also been reported detained during the two weeks of demonstrations. Internet and telephone blockades have made it difficult to independently verify these figures. Official Iranian authorities have not released a total death toll.<\/p>\n

Amid the protests, the Iranian authorities have announced possible actions in the event of United States intervention. The Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, Mohammad Baagher Qalibaf, made a statement from the parliamentary rostrum.<\/p>\n

“All American military centers, bases and ships in the region could become targets in the event of a strike on Iran,” said Mohammad Baagher Qalibaf.<\/p>\n

He also said that the US military and Israel would be “legitimate targets” if the US used force to protect protesters. His speech was accompanied by chants of “Death to America!” from lawmakers.<\/p>\n

US President Donald Trump expressed support for the protesters.<\/p>\n

“Iran is looking at freedom, perhaps like never before. The United States stands ready to help,” said Donald Trump.<\/p>\n

According to sources, the White House is discussing possible options for responding to Tehran’s actions, including cyberattacks or direct strikes, but no decisions have been made yet.<\/p>\n

Protests continue in Tehran, Mashhad and other cities, with activists reporting a heightened security presence, the use of surveillance drones and short-lived protests.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Iranian state television has shown footage of peaceful neighborhoods and broadcast funerals for fallen security personnel, calling protesters “rioters.” Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has acknowledged public discontent.<\/p>\n

“People have concerns, we need to talk to them,” said Masoud Pezeshkian.<\/p>\n

He also stressed that the authorities will not allow “the destruction of the entire society.”<\/p>\n

Protests in Iran began on December 28 amid a sharp drop in the value of the Iranian rial due to sanctions and an economic crisis, and later grew into calls for a change in theocratic power. The international community, including the UN and the Vatican, is calling on Tehran to exercise restraint, restore communication and protect human lives.<\/p>\n
