Russia plans to launch a large-scale geological exploration program in the temporarily occupied territory of Donetsk Oblast. The work is scheduled to start in 2026 and continue until at least 2031.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was reported by<\/a> the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

According to the SZRU, the program involves phased exploration of deposits with a focus on strategic and rare raw materials in demand in the modern economy. This is not about one-time geological work, but about long-term preparation for industrial development of the subsoil.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The occupation authorities plan to use Soviet geological materials as a basis for updating data and assessing the prospects of deposits. Funding for geological exploration is announced to come from the Russian state budget.<\/p>\n

The SZRU notes that the increased interest in the Donetsk region’s subsoil is taking place against the backdrop of problems in Russia’s traditional raw materials industries, in particular the oil sector. Due to sanctions, technological restrictions, and difficulties with exports, the Kremlin is looking for alternative sources of income.<\/p>\n

In fact, Russia considers the temporarily occupied Ukrainian territories as a resource base to support its own economy and military needs, grossly violating the norms of international law.<\/p>\n

It was previously reported that Russia is using “disposable” agents for sabotage in European countries in order to sow chaos and undermine support for Ukraine.<\/a><\/p>\n

As a reminder, the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck three Russian drilling rigs in the Caspian Sea, which were used to supply the occupation army.<\/a><\/p>\n
