At dawn on January 15, American special forces seized another tanker belonging to the Russian “shadow fleet” transporting oil in violation of international sanctions in the Caribbean Sea off the coast of Venezuela.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Reuters reports this.<\/a> According to the agency, the United States has “seized a sixth tanker linked to Venezuela.” Reuters is not disclosing the vessel’s name.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the US Southern Command confirmed the operation, explaining that American forces detained the tanker Veronica, which “violated President Trump’s quarantine order for sanctioned vessels in the Caribbean.” A video of the operation was released online.<\/p>\n

This Guyanese-flagged tanker left Venezuelan waters empty in early January. It was recently re-registered in Russia and renamed Galileo, with its home port in Taganrog.<\/p>\n

As reported by Pryamoy<\/a> , the fifth tanker that the US detained<\/a> in the Caribbean near Trinidad was the Olina.<\/p>\n

The UK is also preparing<\/a> to forcefully intercept tankers from the so-called “shadow fleet” transporting oil in defiance of international sanctions.<\/p>\n
