Several powerful explosions have been heard in the center of the Dutch city of Utrecht. There are injuries and people may be trapped under the rubble.<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The explosions occurred on Vischersteig Street. The causes of the incident remain unknown at this time. A large fire broke out in the area after the explosions.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

According to the fire department, at least four people were injured. Rescuers do not rule out that there may be more victims under the rubble.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Several buildings were damaged by the explosions. Windows were broken in nearby buildings, the roadway and sidewalks were covered in debris. Some of the buildings caught fire.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Emergency services – firefighters, medics and police – are on the scene. An emergency room at Utrecht University Hospital has been opened for the injured.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The area of the incident has been cordoned off, and the city’s central streets have been blocked off. Police are investigating the circumstances of the explosions.<\/p>\n

As previously reported, part of the runway at Oslo Airport was temporarily closed on January 10 due to a report of a possible drone<\/a> . The restrictions were imposed for safety reasons, but the runway was later reopened.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, on January 3, a large-scale power outage occurred in Berlin due to arson at the Lichterfelde power plant<\/a> , leaving about 45,000 households and over 2,000 commercial properties without power. Restoration of electricity and heat is expected by January 8.<\/p>\n
