Amid Russian attacks on the energy sector, Ukrainian state-owned companies will be required to double their electricity imports. The government is demanding that at least 50% of consumption in the 2025\/26 heating season be covered by imports.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was announced by<\/a> First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal.<\/p>\n

“State-owned companies, primarily Ukrzaliznytsia and Naftogaz, must urgently ensure the purchase of imported electricity during the 2025\/26 fiscal year in the amount of at least 50% of total consumption,” Shmyhal wrote.<\/p>\n

In addition, the National Commission for State Regulation of Energy and Utilities (NCRECU) was recommended to review and simplify the connection of reserve energy equipment to networks as soon as possible. According to Shmyhal, the project should be reviewed and approved within 2 days. The technical conditions should be obtained and the metering unit inspected and sealed within the same period.<\/p>\n

The government is also redistributing reserve equipment between regions, taking into account the criticality of needs for life-support facilities.<\/p>\n

Recall that Ukraine has introduced a state of emergency in the energy sector due to massive Russian attacks on infrastructure facilities<\/a> . This decision should ensure coordination of actions of all services in the capital, regions and communities to stabilize the situation.<\/p>\n

It was previously reported that Ukraine’s energy system is in difficult conditions due to intensive Russian shelling and the most severe winter in 20 years<\/a> . In connection with the emergency situation in the energy sector, the Government has identified a set of measures to overcome its consequences.<\/p>\n

By the way, on January 15, the Russian army destroyed a critical energy infrastructure facility in Kharkiv with a missile attack.<\/a><\/p>\n

As a reminder, the Russian occupiers struck at Ukraine’s energy infrastructure facilities<\/a> , resulting in power outages for consumers in the Zhytomyr and Kharkiv regions.<\/p>\n
