Currently, the debts, including interest, are estimated at no less than $225.8 billion \u2014 almost half, 43%, of the annual budget of the Russian Federation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The State Duma stated that debts should not be recognized due to statute of limitations, and also because \u201cRussia is not the legal successor of the Russian Empire.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;The lawyers interviewed by RBC note that previously even acknowledging the debt would not have allowed the court to enforce the decision, but the sanctions policy has created the possibility of applying security measures and asset management.
