In Zaporizhzhia, law enforcement officers detained a man who, according to investigators, attempted to kill a Ukrainian serviceman on orders from the Russian FSB.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The SBU<\/a> and the National Police<\/a> reported this.<\/p>\n

According to the case file, the assassination attempt was planned by a 25-year-old local unemployed man, recruited by Russian intelligence agencies through Telegram channels offering “easy money.” After carrying out so-called test arson attacks, the occupiers ordered him to assassinate a Ukrainian Armed Forces officer\u2014a 23-year-old platoon commander undergoing rehabilitation after being wounded.<\/p>\n

The suspect received the attack address from a handler in Russia. To lure the soldier into the situation, the FSB created a fake online dating account for the woman and invited him to a meeting. In an industrial zone, the defender was attacked by a man in a balaclava, who stabbed him six times in the neck, chest, stomach, and right leg before fleeing.<\/p>\n

The wounded soldier was taken to intensive care in serious condition. The attacker was found within hours: law enforcement officers conducted a door-to-door search, analyzed CCTV footage, and a police dog found a knife with traces of blood near the crime scene. The attacker was detained at a relative’s home, where he had been hiding.<\/p>\n

During a search of his home, they found cell phones, SIM cards, clothing, and shoes with blood stains. The suspect threw the most bloody items into the trash.<\/p>\n

The man is currently charged with attempted murder, committed to order and for mercenary motives. He faces 10 to 15 years in prison or life imprisonment with confiscation of property.<\/p>\n
