Amidst US President Donald Trump’s statements regarding possible control over Greenland, the island’s authorities are beginning to plan security measures in the event of a military conflict, even if it currently seems unlikely.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was announced by<\/a> Greenland Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen, Bloomberg reports.<\/p>\n

According to Nielsen, the government is forming a special working group to coordinate the actions of all local services and authorities in case of emergencies. The population is advised to have a 5-day supply of food at home and prepare for possible disruptions in daily life.<\/p>\n

Greenland’s Finance Minister and former leader of the island, Mute B. Egede, noted that Greenland is under “significant pressure” and the authorities must be prepared for any development, including military. Nielsen added that the likelihood of direct conflict is still low, but it cannot be completely ruled out.<\/p>\n

Thus, even if an invasion is unlikely, the Greenland authorities are already stepping up preparations to ensure the safety of residents and the stability of the island’s infrastructure.<\/p>\n
