Divers in Kyiv have been working to repair a flooded power plant after Russian shelling. Rescuers worked in icy water at temperatures as low as -15 degrees Celsius.<\/strong><\/p>\n

During the shelling, a damaged pipe caused flooding at one of the capital’s CHP plants. The accident complicated the repair of the equipment on which thousands of homes depend for heat and electricity.<\/p>\n

Divers immediately began underwater work. The special operation lasted six days. Rescuers stopped the water leak, which allowed the station to resume operations.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The President of Ukraine awarded the participants of the operation with state awards. The Order “For Courage” of the 3rd degree was awarded to Artem Orlov, Denis Frolov and Mykhailo Khyzhnyak. The Order of Danylo Halytsky was awarded to Andriy Vlasenko, and the medal “Defender of Ukraine” to Anton Gaitan.<\/p>\n

As previously reported, Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal said that Kyiv may switch to the predicted power outage schedules in the coming days.<\/a><\/p>\n

As a reminder, as of the morning of January 21 , about 4,000 homes in Kyiv remain without heat supply, and almost 60% of the city remains without electricity<\/a> .<\/p>\n
