The European Union has allocated the first 10 million euros for the establishment of a Special Tribunal for Russia’s crimes against Ukraine.<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to her, the Russian leadership bears direct responsibility for the outbreak of the war and must be held accountable.<\/p>\n

“Russian leaders are responsible for this war, and they must be held accountable. There can be no impunity,” Kallas stressed.<\/p>\n

She also reported that she had discussed further steps to establish the tribunal and signed a corresponding contract with the Council of Europe.<\/p>\n

It was previously reported that the Council of Europe’s initiative to create a Special International Tribunal, which would consider the crime of Russian aggression against Ukraine, has encountered financial difficulties that may hinder its implementation.<\/a><\/p>\n

As a reminder, the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Alain Berset, suggested that a special tribunal regarding Russian crimes against Ukraine could become operational in 2026.<\/a><\/p>\n
