Teachers at higher education institutions will receive a 40% salary increase starting in January, and the funds will be recalculated by the end of the month.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was reported<\/a> by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The Ministry of Education and Science noted that higher education institutions under the ministry’s management can already pay salaries to teaching and research and teaching staff at new official salaries. The ministry will transfer the funding for January payments to universities by the end of the month, after which the funds will be paid to employees in accordance with the internal schedules of each institution.<\/p>\n

The department explained that starting January 1, tariff rates in the budget sector are calculated based on the official salary of an employee of the first tariff category of the Unified Tariff Grid, which is 3,470 hryvnias. In this regard, all allowances and additional payments tied to official salaries are automatically revised.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Separately, a 40% salary increase was introduced for teaching and scientific-pedagogical employees of state and municipal institutions since the beginning of the year. The Ministry of Education and Science clarified that for teachers, who already had a 10% increase, the actual salary increase in January will be about 30%.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The increase applies to payments financed from state or local budgets. If the payment is made from a special fund or from other sources, the decision on the size of salaries is made by the higher education institution itself, taking into account its own financial capabilities.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The ministry emphasized that for sustainable wage growth, the introduction of an indicative cost of contract training remains important, which should equalize the real cost of education and create additional financial opportunities for raising salaries.<\/p>\n

The Ministry of Education and Science also emphasized that the current increase is not final.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

As previously reported, in Ukraine, from January 1, 2026, state assistance at the birth of a child has been increased to 50,000 hryvnias, and the cost of the Baby Package is 8,451 hryvnias.<\/a><\/p>\n
