In the event of freezing sewer pipes in the Troyeshchyna district of Kyiv, the authorities plan to install street toilets with pits.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was reported<\/a> to LB.ua by the head of the Desnyan district administration, Maksym Bakhmatov.<\/p>\n

“If the situation becomes critical, we will dig holes, cover them and build simple toilets – like in the village,” Bakhmatov assured. “We considered this option back in the summer because of the risks with the backup power supply of the water supply pump groups and Bortnychi. In the short term, this is the most realistic way out.”<\/p>\n

Currently, there are problems with the sewage system in Teremki, in particular on Zabolotnogo Street, where pipes have burst in some houses and frozen in others. Residents are trying to warm up the frozen pipes on their own.<\/p>\n

The worst situation with heat and electricity supply persists in Troyeshchyna. Tent camps have been set up there to heat residents. The district is completely dependent on CHP-6, which is currently not supplying heat. According to Bakhmatov, there is no alternative source of connection. “What exactly happened is unknown, but it is known that the problem appeared after the last shelling on Saturday night,” he noted.<\/p>\n

The head of the administration is negotiating with Kyivzelenbud and Kyivavtodor regarding the provision of equipment and labor for digging holes and installing toilets.<\/p>\n

Bakhmatov clarified that the signal for the start of work will be the disappearance of the water supply. “Usually, such steps take a day or two,” he says. The district also needs help from the city with food, firewood, and dry toilets.<\/p>\n
