Hamas handed over to Israel all the hostages, as well as the bodies of the dead Israelis held in the Gaza Strip.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was reported<\/a> by US President’s special representative Steve Witkoff.<\/p>\n

According to him, the last body to be returned to its homeland was that of officer Rana Gwili, who went to rescue people on October 7 and died during hostilities.<\/p>\n

Witkoff stressed that in total, Israel received 20 hostages and the bodies of 28 dead prisoners who were in Gaza.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

He called the event a “historic day” and noted that the return of all hostages and dead closes a painful stage for Israeli families.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

According to the US special representative, this creates the prerequisites for a transition to a new stage, which can be defined by peace and stability, not war and destruction. He also added that the US President’s team is determined to work towards achieving lasting peace and prosperity in the Middle East.<\/p>\n

Earlier it was reported that Israel accused Hamas of violating the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered immediate “powerful strikes” in response.<\/a><\/p>\n

As a reminder, the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip officially started at noon, when the Israeli army announced the withdrawal of its units to new deployment lines in accordance with the agreement with Hamas on the exchange of all hostages.<\/a><\/p>\n
