The Transcarpathian Regional Prosecutor’s Office reported suspicions against the management of the Dragobrat ski resort in the case of the death of a tourist.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was reported<\/a> by the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office.<\/p>\n

The tragedy occurred on January 18, 2025. A 28-year-old doctor from the Volyn region came to rest with friends. According to the investigation, while climbing on the ski lift, the girl traveled about 350 meters, after which she lost her grip on the cable, fell and began to slide rapidly down the slope.<\/p>\n

At high speed, the victim hit her head on a metal fence that was not equipped with protective mats, and died at the scene.<\/p>\n

During the pre-trial investigation, law enforcement agencies conducted a set of necessary examinations, including an occupational safety examination. Its conclusions confirmed that at the time of the tragedy, the resort management:<\/p>\n

did not ensure proper technical condition of the fences;<\/p>\n

allowed the operation of the lift in dangerous conditions;<\/p>\n

did not organize the work of the emergency and rescue service on the territory of the resort.<\/p>\n

It was after receiving the results of these examinations that legal grounds emerged to report the suspicion to the resort management.<\/p>\n

Thus, the suspect is charged with violating safety rules during the performance of work with increased danger by a person who is obliged to comply with them, which caused the death of a person (Part 2 of Article 272 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).<\/p>\n

The issue of imposing preventive measures on the suspects is currently being decided. The prosecutor’s office will request their detention.<\/p>\n

It should be noted that, in accordance with Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until his guilt is proven in accordance with the law and established by a court verdict of guilty.<\/p>\n
