Tesla will stop producing Model S and Model X electric cars in the second quarter of 2026. The company is repurposing its production facilities and is betting on a new direction.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Tesla CEO Elon Musk publicly announced the end of production during a financial results call. According to him, the Model S and Model X have already fulfilled their role, and the company sees further focus in other areas. Musk also advised those who planned to buy not to postpone their orders.<\/p>\n

After the shutdown, the Fremont, California, plant will no longer produce these models. It is at this site that Tesla plans to develop its Optimus humanoid robot line. The company expects that over time, production volumes could reach up to a million units per year, although it did not give a specific timeframe.<\/p>\n

Despite the closure of the Model S and X programs, there are no plans to lay off staff. On the contrary, Tesla plans to expand its staff, as the new product requires a different organization of production processes.<\/p>\n

Tesla’s net profit fell sharply by 61% at the end of 2025, and the annual figures were significantly worse than in previous years (minus $3.3 billion).
