A rare natural phenomenon – a lunar halo – was observed in the sky over the Kyiv region on the evening of January 30.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The lunar halo appears as a large, bright ring around the Moon. It is caused by the refraction of light by ice crystals in the upper atmosphere.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Experts explain that the combination of a bright Moon and thin clouds of ice particles is necessary for this phenomenon to occur. It is under these conditions that the light forms the characteristic light circle.<\/p>\n

In favorable weather, a bright lunar halo can be seen in Ukraine approximately 10-20 times a year.<\/p>\n
