A massive overnight attack in Kharkiv damaged Thermal Power Plant No. 5 and the Kharkivska and Zalyutino substations. Due to large-scale accidents at power facilities, a significant portion of the city was left without heat, and authorities declared a local man-made emergency.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was reported by the Kharkiv City Council and announced by the mayor, Igor Terekhov, on the Mnenie<\/a> channel.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The corresponding decision was made by the city commission on technogenic and environmental safety and emergency situations.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

According to Terekhov, the lack of heating in winter poses a real threat to the lives and health of people, especially children, the elderly, and those with limited mobility. Around 1,200 homes were at risk, but thanks to modular boiler plants and alternative heat sources, 300 homes were able to receive heat.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

At the same time, to maintain the heating system during freezing temperatures, a decision was made to conduct a heat pump. As a result, heat was interrupted at 929 facilities, 853 of which were residential buildings. Nearly 105,000 residents were left without heat.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The most damaged houses were in the Shevchenkivskyi, Novobavarskyi, Kholodnohirskyi and partially in the Kyivskyi districts of the city.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The mayor also announced that the government had agreed to increase electricity limits for Kharkiv to avoid power outages for consumers without heating\u2014this will allow people to use electric heaters. Furthermore, the city has already managed to restore the metro and electric transit services.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Kharkiv currently has 101 Points of Invincibility, where people can stay 24\/7. If needed, up to 50 additional tents can be deployed. There is also an agreement with Ukrzaliznytsia to provide six train cars for temporary accommodation.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

It was previously reported that on February 3, Russian occupation forces launched another attack on Kyiv. Destruction and fires were reported in various parts of the capital, and at least three people were injured.<\/a><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

As a reminder, due to the massive overnight attack on Kyiv, the Darnitsky and Dniprovskyi districts remain largely without heat.<\/a><\/p>\n
