Sweden has announced a new energy support package for Ukraine worth 1 billion Swedish kronor, which is almost 94 million euros.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was reported<\/a> by the press service of the Swedish government.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The Swedish government noted that the funds will be used both to cover immediate needs and to strengthen Ukraine’s energy supply in the medium and long term.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Sweden’s Minister for Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade, Benjamin Dusa, stressed that Ukraine is in a state of emergency due to constant Russian attacks on energy infrastructure, which leave millions of people without electricity, heating, and water in conditions of severe frost.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

According to the government, the funding will support electricity production and repair damaged power facilities. Some of the funds will also be used to strengthen the resilience of the power system in the future.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

In total, Sweden will transfer 600 million kroons to the Energy Support Fund for Ukraine, and another 400 million kroons to the United Nations Development Program.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The Swedish government notes that thanks to this assistance, Ukraine will be able to purchase power plants, thermal fans, as well as spare parts for the restoration of destroyed facilities.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Sweden’s Minister of Energy and Economic Affairs, Ebba Busch, stated that Russia is purposefully using energy infrastructure as a weapon against civilians, and a reliable energy supply remains critical for the security of people and the country’s stability.<\/p>\n

As previously reported,during the full-scale war, Japan became one of Ukraine’s key partners, providing over $15 billion in assistance in various areas.<\/a><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Recall that the World Bank will help Ukraine restore its energy system – the country will receive up to $40 million in grant support.<\/a> <\/p>\n
