Bitcoin fell to its lowest level in 16 months on Friday, February 6, approaching key support at $60,000 as the global sell-off in tech stocks deepened.<\/strong><\/p>\n

During trading, the Bitcoin price fell to $60,008.52\u2014its lowest since October 2024. The cryptocurrency subsequently recovered some of its losses and rose 1.64% to $64,153.24, showing significant fluctuations.<\/p>\n

Analysts attribute the decline to investors’ retreat from risky assets amid instability in global stock markets. According to Chris Weston, head of research at brokerage Pepperstone, Bitcoin has been declining since October 2025, which could be either a warning sign or a coincidence. He noted that large positions in the market are currently being reversed very quickly.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Ether rose 2.4% to $1,891.27 after earlier falling to a 10-month low of $1,751.94.<\/p>\n

According to CoinGecko, the global crypto market’s total capitalization has fallen by approximately $2 trillion since the beginning of October, from a peak of $4.379 trillion. In the last month alone, losses have exceeded $1 trillion.<\/p>\n

Bitcoin was on track for a 16% decline this week, bringing its year-to-date loss to 27%. Ethereum, meanwhile, was headed for a 17% weekly decline, bringing its year-to-date loss to around 36%.<\/p>\n

Reuters analysts note that investor sentiment in cryptocurrencies was also affected by active sell-offs in precious metals and stocks, in particular due to speculative trading and the use of leverage.<\/p>\n
