An unknown assailant attempted to assassinate Lieutenant General of the Russian Army Vladimir Alekseev in Moscow. The soldier was hospitalized, and law enforcement officers have opened a criminal investigation and are searching for the attacker.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is reported by Russian media.<\/p>\n

According to the Investigative Committee of Russia, the shooting occurred in a residential building on Volokolamsk Highway. An unknown person fired several shots at Vladimir Alekseev and fled the scene.<\/p>\n

The general was hospitalized after the incident. Russian law enforcement agencies have opened criminal proceedings into the attempted murder of a serviceman and are searching for the shooter.<\/p>\n

According to eyewitnesses, there was a lot of blood on the floor where the attack was committed.<\/p>\n

“The whole floor is covered in blood, even the elevator hall,” said one of the residents of the building where the shooting took place.<\/p>\n

Vladimir Alekseev has held the position of First Deputy Chief of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces since 2011. In 2017, he received the title of “Hero of Russia”.<\/p>\n

Journalist Denis Kazansky added<\/a> that earlier terrorist Igor Girkin-Strelkov said that it was General Alekseev who was behind the creation of the Wagner PMC and other Russian PMCs. According to Strelkov, it was he who threatened the LPR field commander Mozgovy, and then liquidated him with the help of Wagner.<\/p>\n

According to<\/a> the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Alekseev was born in Ukraine and is involved in organizing intelligence support for Russian aggression against Ukraine, as well as in preparing data for missile and air strikes on Ukrainian territory, in particular on civilian objects.<\/p>\n

The GUR noted that the general was responsible for intelligence support for the combat operations of Russian troops in Syria, which led to the deaths of civilians and were classified by the international community as war crimes.<\/p>\n

Also, according to Ukrainian intelligence, Alekseev was involved in organizing pseudo-referendums in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, in particular regarding the creation of the so-called “Kherson People’s Republic.”<\/p>\n

It is worth adding that Alekseev initiated the creation of the Volunteer Corps of the Russian Ministry of Defense, which included various “volunteer” formations, in particular, the Redut PMC, and was also among the founders of the Espanyol brigade, formed mainly from Russian football fans (now disbanded).<\/p>\n

Recall that on the morning of December 22 , a Kia Sorento car exploded in a parking lot in the Moscow district of Orekhovo-Borisovo.<\/a> According to preliminary data, an improvised explosive device went off in the car.<\/p>\n
