Energoatom NNEGC has rejected the possibility of sharing the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant with Russia. The company emphasized that it is technically impossible to implement such an idea.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Pavlo Kovtonyuk, acting chairman of the board of Energoatom, said that politicians can discuss the issue of shared use of the plant, but nuclear industry experts consider this unrealistic.<\/p>\n

“Politicians are probably discussing such an issue. But from the point of view of technical specialists and Energoatom as the operator of all nuclear power plants in Ukraine, this is impossible,” said Pavlo Kovtonyuk.<\/p>\n

According to him, Ukraine has all the necessary licenses to operate the Zaporizhzhia NPP facilities, including reactors and control systems.<\/p>\n

“The fact that Russia is trying to issue itself some kind of license is absurd, because having neither projects nor a license for American nuclear fuel… it is a political decision on their part,” said Pavlo Kovtonyuk.<\/p>\n

As is known, Moscow insists that Ukraine and Russia share electricity production from the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant<\/a> , which is the largest in Europe and is currently under occupation by Russian troops.<\/p>\n

It was previously reported that Washington proposed dividing the management of the Zaporizhzhia NPP<\/a> , which is located in the occupied territory, into three – between Ukraine, the United States, and Russia.<\/p>\n
