Indian refineries have begun to reject new contracts for the supply of Russian oil scheduled for April 2026. This is due to negotiations between India and the United States and the intention to conclude a trade agreement between the states.<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to industry sources, Indian companies have received informal advice from the government to gradually reduce imports of Russian raw materials, as part of a strategy aimed at economic rapprochement with Washington.<\/p>\n

It is reported that the prerequisite for the changes in trade policy was the decision of the White House to cancel additional duties on Indian goods. US President Donald Trump signed an executive order removing the 25 percent tariff previously imposed due to purchases of Russian oil.<\/p>\n

“India has committed to directly or indirectly stop importing Russian oil. This will help end the war in Ukraine, which is happening now and where thousands of people are dying every week,” said US President Donald Trump.<\/p>\n

He also noted that India plans to replace Russian energy supplies with supplies from the United States and Venezuela.<\/p>\n

By the way, India agreed to stop purchasing Russian oil<\/a> , although it still remained the second largest buyer of this resource from Russia.<\/p>\n

It was previously reported that Russia has sharply increased its gold sales to China in 2025.<\/a> This amounts to dozens of tons, which looks like a forced sale of reserves amid financial pressure and problems with filling the budget.<\/p>\n
