The Appellate Chamber of the High Anti-Corruption Court partially changed the sentence of the current People’s Deputy of Ukraine, reducing his sentence to 4 years of imprisonment.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was reported<\/a> by the press service of the Appeals Chamber of the Supreme Court of Ukraine.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

On February 9, 2026, the court considered the parties’ appeals against the verdict of the Supreme Court of Justice of Ukraine of March 25, 2025, by which the people’s deputy was found guilty of committing several criminal offenses.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The court of first instance sentenced the accused to 7 years in prison with confiscation of all his property and deprivation of the right to hold certain positions for a period of three years.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Following the appeal hearing, the panel of judges dismissed the prosecutor’s appeal and partially upheld the defense’s appeal. The court changed the verdict in terms of the legal qualification of the defendant’s actions and the sentence.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The actions of the people’s deputy were reclassified as abuse of influence. The court sentenced him to 4 years in prison with a three-year disqualification from holding positions related to the performance of the functions of a representative of the government. The remaining part of the sentence was left unchanged.<\/p>\n

The MP was taken into custody directly in the courtroom.<\/p>\n

It was previously reported that the SBU, together with the NABU, exposed a people’s deputy and two of his accomplices “red-handed”<\/a> who “sold” land to the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine for $85,000. According to media reports, this is people’s deputy Anatoliy Hunko from the Servant of the People party.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, People’s Deputy of Ukraine Anatoliy Gunko joined the government working group on improving legislation in the field of advocacy and legal activities.<\/a> At the same time, he has a guilty verdict from the High Anti-Corruption Court and a new suspicion from the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine.<\/p>\n
