In the Kirovohrad region, a mother-teacher of a family-type orphanage was reported on suspicion of unlawful deprivation of liberty and cruel treatment of a minor.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was reported<\/a> by the Prosecutor General’s Office.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

According to the investigation, for several months, the woman restricted the freedom of 17-year-old Iryna, a child with disability group I and Down syndrome who requires constant care. To prevent the girl from leaving the house, the suspect put metal chains with locks on her arms and legs, and at night tied her to the bed with a fabric belt. <\/p>\n

The situation became known after the girl was able to run outside with chains on her body. Eyewitnesses took pictures of her and sent them to the community chat. From there, the information reached the village headman and law enforcement officers.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The prosecutor initiated immediate investigative actions at the child’s place of residence. The children’s service was involved in the case. Iryna was taken to a medical and rehabilitation facility, where she is receiving medical and psychological assistance.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The court chose a preventive measure for the woman in the form of a personal bond and suspended her from working with children. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.<\/p>\n

The prosecutor’s office emphasizes that any forms of violence or illegal restriction of children’s freedom will receive a strict legal assessment.<\/p>\n

It is also reported that, on the instructions of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, control over the observance of children’s rights has been strengthened. Over the course of a month, hundreds of children’s institutions and family forms of upbringing, as well as the living conditions of tens of thousands of children, were inspected.<\/p>\n

As previously reported, law enforcement officers in Kyiv reported a suspicion on a resident of the Desnyanskyi district, whom the investigation believes to be involved in torture and systematic domestic violence against her 9-year-old son.<\/a><\/p>\n

As a reminder, in Mykolaiv, law enforcement officers detained a couple suspected of attempting to sell their newborn child<\/a> . According to investigators, the parents allegedly agreed to hand over the baby for $10,000. <\/p>\n
