The family of Nazar Daletsky, a soldier of the 24th Brigade, who was considered dead in 2023 and buried in the Lviv region, will be obliged to return state payments after his return from Russian captivity.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was reported by the representative of the Ombudsman in the Lviv region, Taras Podvirny.<\/p>\n

He spoke about the situation on February 10 during a session of the Lviv Regional Council. According to Podvirny, after a DNA examination, the soldier was officially declared dead, and the family received a one-time cash assistance from the state in the amount of 15 million hryvnias.<\/p>\n

During the last prisoner exchange, it turned out that Nazar Daletsky was alive. He had returned from Russian captivity.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

“The legal point is that the family must return the funds that the state paid as a one-time benefit for the death of a soldier. This precedent will be decided separately,” Podvirny noted.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

According to him, they now need to establish who made the mistake and under what circumstances, because the decision about the death was made based on DNA expertise.<\/p>\n

“They will look for the guilty, because we understand that DNA testing is extremely accurate,” he said.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

At the same time, the representative of the Ombudsman emphasized that the main thing for the family is the return of the soldier home.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

“I think the greatest happiness for this family is that the soldier returned, not the money that the state paid them,” Podvirny added.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

As previously reported, on February 5, Ukraine and Russia exchanged prisoners, and 157 military personnel of the Defense Forces were returned home.<\/a><\/p>\n

Recall that the Russian military began to put pressure on the families of Ukrainian prisoners, forcing them to register Starlink satellite terminals in their own names.<\/a> <\/p>\n
