The Verkhovna Rada adopted Law No. 13574, which clarifies the rules for conscription for military service during mobilization for a certain category of citizens.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was reported<\/a> by the press service of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.<\/p>\n

“In particular, it establishes that conscripts and reservists aged 18 to 25 who, during martial law, served a year’s service under a contract and were discharged on grounds specified by law, are not subject to automatic conscription within 12 months after discharge. At the same time, they may be called up for service only with their own consent,” the text of the law states.<\/p>\n

Thus, the Law creates a certain \u201cgrace period\u201d for young contract soldiers after the completion of the one-year contract, while maintaining the possibility of their voluntary enlistment in the service.<\/p>\n

243 MPs voted for a one-year postponement of mobilization for contract soldiers.<\/p>\n

To enter into force, the adopted law must be signed by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky. It is noted that the law enters into force on the day after its publication.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, the Ministry of Defense has expanded the list of categories of citizens for whom deferral from mobilization is automatically extended<\/a> . Seven more categories have been added to the auto-extension mechanism, and about 90% of deferrals are now extended without applications, certificates, and visits to institutions.<\/p>\n

By the way, the Verkhovna Rada is preparing amendments to the legislation on mobilization, which provide for the abolition of deferral for men over the age of 25<\/a> who enter institutions of higher, pre-university, or vocational education.<\/p>\n
