According to their estimates, Moscow is capable of making additional political and security demands.

This is stated in the ISW report.

Analysts note that Moscow may insist not only on international recognition of the occupied territories, but also demand broader changes in the security and political sphere. In particular, we are talking about a possible limitation of Ukraine’s defense capabilities, a change in Kyiv’s foreign policy course, and a revision of the security architecture in Europe.

The document emphasizes that such a position of the Kremlin could complicate the implementation of any peace initiatives. Analysts also emphasize Russia’s use of the negotiation process to achieve strategic concessions that go beyond the territorial issue.

Experts warn that Moscow’s continued pressure could weaken Ukrainian statehood and the influence of Western partners in the region, creating risks of instability even if the fighting formally ceases.

Earlier, journalists reported that the US administration allegedly hinted to Kyiv that security guarantees might be linked to Ukraine’s agreement to a peace agreement on Donbas. The publication quoted an anonymous Ukrainian official who claimed that the US suspends negotiations when the issue of signing security guarantees arises.

The White House denied this information.

“This is absolutely not true. The only role of the US in the peace process is to bring both sides together to conclude an agreement. It is unfortunate that the Financial Times allows malicious actors to lie anonymously,” said White House Deputy Press Secretary Anna Kelly.

Earlier, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated the importance of the territorial issue within the framework of the so-called “Anchorage formula.” The content of this formula was not disclosed in the Kremlin.

By the way, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated during the Munich Security Conference that it is currently unknown whether Russia is really committed to ending the war against Ukraine. He noted that the parties continue to examine the possibility of reaching conditions that would be acceptable to both states.

Earlier, Zelenskyy said that the document on security guarantees for Ukraine is fully prepared . Currently, Kyiv is waiting for a signal from the United States of America regarding the place and date of its signing. Later, it became known that the United States of America declared its readiness to ratify the security guarantees in the US Congress.

Also follow “Pryamim” on Facebook , X , Telegram , and Instagram.

Analysts at the Institute for the Study of War said that Russia may not limit itself to territorial claims during possible negotiations to end the war against Ukraine.
