Russia is trying to offer the United States large-scale economic deals in order to achieve concessions on the issue of the war against Ukraine and the easing of sanctions.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Analysts say the Kremlin is waging a multi-pronged campaign that combines disinformation and economic initiatives to persuade the new White House administration to reconsider its sanctions policy.<\/p>\n

According to Reuters, citing European intelligence sources, over the past year Russia has used negotiations with the United States to promote the idea of easing sanctions and concluding bilateral business deals. Some of the agency’s interlocutors note that the Kremlin is trying to separate negotiations on the war in Ukraine and a separate track of economic cooperation between Moscow and Washington.<\/p>\n

Analysts emphasize that after the new US administration took office in 2025, Russia intensified its attempts to interest Washington in economic cooperation, which formally does not involve war, but could influence the US position on Moscow’s demands.<\/p>\n

On February 18, the head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, Kirill Dmitriev, said that the sanctions were harming American business and called for their lifting. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov called the restrictions illegal and advocated the restoration of economic relations between the countries.<\/p>\n

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Russia and the United States are working in bilateral economic groups in parallel with negotiations to resolve the war.<\/p>\n

At the same time, the Ukrainian side warns of information manipulation around the topic of negotiations and attempts to weaken international support for Kyiv. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n
