Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Kyrylo Budanov spoke out in favor of regulating the work of the Telegram messenger in Ukraine. According to him, such a decision should be made at least for the duration of the war.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He spoke about this on the air of the telethon “United News”.<\/p>\n

Budanov recalled that back in 2024 he advocated regulating Telegram. He clarified that this was not about completely blocking the messenger, but that its activities needed to be regulated.<\/p>\n

“Not to block, but to streamline and slow down a bit. So that Telegram is the messenger it should be,” Budanov said.<\/p>\n

The Head of the Presidential Office emphasized that through Telegram, the enemy is trying to recruit Ukrainians for sabotage and carries out subversive activities.<\/p>\n

According to him, one possible step could be mandatory registration of Telegram channels with disclosure of information about their owners.<\/p>\n

“I’m not against messengers, not even against Telegram channels, but excuse me: register your Telegram channel, show who is behind it. You are responsible for the content you post on it. And if you want an anonymous Telegram channel, which by all accounts is a classic media outlet, and you also conduct subversive activities through it, recruitment is carried out through it, that’s a bit of a different issue,” Budanov said.<\/p>\n

He added that streamlining Telegram’s operations in Ukraine is possible, although many may not like such a decision.<\/p>\n

The day before, Iryna Gerashchenko, co-chair of the European Solidarity faction, said that the terrorist attack in Lviv had reactivated the discussion in society about the work of anonymous platforms.<\/a> She noted that EU deputies have long demanded the deanonymization of Telegram, but the relevant bill is being blocked by the authorities.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, on the night of February 22, 2026, two explosions were heard in the center of Lviv<\/a> near the Magnus shopping center. No airstrike was declared in the city or region.<\/p>\n

Later, on February 23, at 6:10 p.m., an explosion occurred at a malfunctioning gas station in Mykolaiv<\/a> . Seven law enforcement officers were injured in the incident.<\/div>\n
