Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Pavlo Palisa stated that in 2025 Russia occupied less than 1% of Ukraine’s territory, suffering significant losses in manpower. According to him, even at the current pace, it will take the enemy approximately 1.5 years to completely capture the Donetsk region.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He said this in an interview with Radio Liberty<\/a> .<\/p>\n

Palisa provided an assessment of the situation in the Donetsk direction and noted that despite massive assaults, Russia’s territorial gains remain insignificant in relation to losses.<\/p>\n

According to him, during 2025, Russian troops were able to occupy less than 1% of the total area of Ukraine. At the same time, Russia’s losses, according to the data provided, exceeded 450 thousand killed and wounded soldiers.<\/p>\n

Pavlo Palisa also reported that the Ukrainian military currently holds about 6,000 square kilometers of the territory of the Donetsk region.<\/p>\n

“Given the current dynamics, they will need approximately a year and a half to do this<\/strong> . And a resource that is equal to the current Russian grouping on the territory of Ukraine. It will be very difficult for them to do this<\/strong> . And it will not be as fast as they want,” Palisa said.<\/p>\n

It was previously reported that Russian troops had likely completed the capture of Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region<\/a> , but this did not open the way for them to make large-scale advances in the region.<\/p>\n
