China has stated that since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine, it has been advocating peace negotiations and is allegedly making efforts to end the hostilities.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was reported<\/a> by Ukrinform with reference to a briefing by the spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Mao Ning.<\/p>\n

This is how Beijing reacted to President Volodymyr Zelensky’s words that Ukrainians do not see China’s involvement in international efforts to end the war.<\/p>\n

“Since the beginning of the ‘Ukrainian crisis,’ China has been committed to promoting peace talks, and China’s efforts to end hostilities are obvious to all countries,” Mao Ning said.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

She also recalled Chinese President Xi Jinping’s position on the resolution of the war. According to her, the four principles proposed by Beijing include respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all states, adherence to the UN Charter, consideration of the legitimate security concerns of all countries, and support for a peaceful resolution.<\/p>\n

“This has always been China’s position,” the spokeswoman stressed.<\/p>\n

At the same time, the formula about “legitimate security concerns of all countries” coincides with Moscow’s rhetoric, with which the Kremlin justifies full-scale aggression against Ukraine.<\/p>\n

As previously reported, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated the need to involve China in the process of ending the war,<\/a> emphasizing that Beijing has leverage over the supply of dual-use components to Russia.<\/p>\n

Recall that China is an informal ally of Russia in the war against Ukraine, providing it with diplomatic and economic support.<\/a> At the same time, Beijing has no vested interests in the outcome of the war, but is interested in its continuation. <\/p>\n
