Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy<\/span><\/span> expressed the opinion that Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orb\u00e1n<\/span><\/span> could suffer defeat in the upcoming parliamentary elections, after which Kyiv and Budapest could restore full relations.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The head of state stated this in an interview with the Italian publication Corriere della Sera<\/span><\/span> .<\/p>\n

Zelenskyy noted that Orb\u00e1n’s influence largely depends on the support of other political forces. “Orb\u00e1n becomes important when important political forces give him strength; otherwise, he’s worth little. Hungary is a country that has significance, but lacks military clout,” the president said.<\/p>\n

At the same time, he emphasized that he does not consider the Hungarian people pro-Russian. According to Zelenskyy, if there is a change in political leadership, regular relations between the two countries could be resumed.<\/p>\n

The President also emphasized that Ukraine opposes purchasing energy resources from Russia, since, according to him, Moscow could use the additional revenue to finance the war against Ukraine.<\/p>\n

Orban previously announced the possible cessation of electricity supplies to Ukraine<\/a> if oil transit through the Druzhba pipeline is not resumed.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, Orb\u00e1n recently responded to a media report about Ukraine joining the EU in 2027<\/a> by declaring that Brussels and Kyiv had “declared war” on Budapest.<\/p>\n
