President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that since the beginning of 2026, the Defense Forces have managed to regain control over 460 square kilometers.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He said<\/span><\/a> this<\/span> in an interview with the Italian publication Corriere Della Serra.<\/span><\/p>\n

The president emphasized the heavy losses of the Russian army, calling the number \u201cgiant.\u201d According to him, the enemy is losing 35,000 soldiers every month.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cNow Putin is going to mobilize 400,000 new soldiers, but his army has stopped growing, losses are equal to new recruits, they are immobilized, close to crisis,\u201d Zelensky noted.<\/span><\/p>\n

The president added that Russia \u201clost its winter offensive\u201d despite strikes on the power plant during severe frosts.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cHe (Putin \u2013 ed.) wanted to divide us, he tried to turn the civilian population against the army to force it to stop fighting. But he failed: with warmer weather, hopes are reborn. Now the Russians will try spring offensives, but I think they will lose again; many soldiers will die in vain,\u201d the head of state explained.<\/span><\/p>\n

At the same time, he added that the Ukrainian army was facing a shortage of military personnel.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe are talking about this openly. That is why we want to end the war,\u201d Zelenskyy stressed.<\/span><\/p>\n

It is worth noting that as of March 2 , the Airborne Assault Forces fighters had liberated nine settlements<\/a> in the Oleksandrivka direction.<\/p>\n

Earlier, Syrskyi stated that during February 2026, Ukrainian troops managed to regain control of more territories than the enemy occupied<\/a> . Such statistics were recorded for the first time since the Kursk operation.<\/p>\n

We remind you that the Defense Forces are effectively conducting search and strike and counterstrike operations<\/a> , as well as stabilizing the situation in the southern sections of the front.<\/p>\n
