The US has reported that “thousands of Iraqi Kurds” have launched a ground offensive in western Iran, but there are no details yet on the scale of the operation, exact areas or sides of the fighting.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was stated by an American official to Fox News<\/a> .<\/p>\n

According to Fox News, most of the fighters are Iranian Kurds who previously lived in Iraq and have now returned to take part in the operation. The channel’s sources claim that the movement is aimed at possibly provoking a broader uprising against the Tehran regime.<\/p>\n

The US stressed that the US military is not arming the rebels in Iran. The White House press service also denied information about the support of the Kurdish forces by the Donald Trump administration.<\/p>\n

At the same time, Iraqi Kurdistan stated that “no Iraqi Kurd crossed the border.” An anonymous Israeli source reported that Israel supports Kurdish formations inside Iran to weaken the regime and take control of certain territories.<\/p>\n
