Washington<\/span><\/span> is preparing for a protracted standoff with Iran<\/span><\/span> . US Central Command<\/span><\/span> has requested the Pentagon<\/span><\/span> deploy additional personnel to support the operation, which could indicate preparations for combat operations lasting at least 100 days.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Politico<\/span><\/span> reports this.<\/p>\n

According to the publication, US Central Command has requested additional military intelligence officers to its headquarters in Tampa<\/span><\/span> , Florida<\/span><\/span> . They are to support operations against Iran for at least 100 days, and likely until September.<\/p>\n

This is the first known instance of a US administration openly initiating an increase in intelligence personnel for a war with Iran.<\/p>\n

According to Politico journalists, this move could indicate preparations for a longer campaign than the four-week conflict period initially announced by US President Donald Trump<\/span><\/span> .<\/p>\n

The publication also notes that the hasty buildup of personnel and resources appears atypical, as such operations are usually planned well in advance. This may indicate that the administration has not fully assessed the scale of the consequences of a war waged jointly with Israel<\/span><\/span> .<\/p>\n

“We witnessed a completely improvised operation, where no one seemed to really understand or believe that military action was inevitable. It was as if they woke up on a Saturday morning and decided they were going to go to war,” said former US diplomat Gerald Feierstein<\/span><\/span> , who was involved in the operation.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, on February 28, Israel launched preemptive strikes against Iran and also attacked Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon<\/a> . A state of emergency was declared throughout the country.<\/p>\n

It later emerged that the strikes on Iran were a joint operation between Israel and the United States<\/a> . Following this, US President Donald Trump confirmed that the United States had launched a military campaign in Iran<\/a> .<\/p>\n

Iran also struck naval targets near the UAE capital Abu Dhabi<\/a> , including the French naval base Camp de la Paix and near the German cruise ship Mein Schiff 4.<\/p>\n
