Slovakian<\/span><\/span> Prime Minister Robert Fico<\/span><\/span> stated that before a possible meeting with Ukrainian<\/span><\/span> President Volodymyr Zelenskyy,<\/span><\/span> he wants to coordinate his position with the European Commission<\/span><\/span> on the transit of Russian oil through Ukrainian territory.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Fico announced this in a statement published on Platform X.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

According to the Slovak Prime Minister, he is interested in meeting with Zelenskyy, but first plans to hold talks with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen<\/span><\/span> .<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Fico noted that he will soon travel to Paris<\/span><\/span> , where he intends to try to arrange a meeting with the head of the European Commission.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

“On Tuesday, I’m going to Paris for the nuclear forum. And then we’ll try to arrange a meeting with the head of the European Commission\u2014during the days I’ll be in France,” he said.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The Slovak Prime Minister also stated that his country, together with the European Commission, should “pressure Zelensky” so that Ukraine allows on-site inspections and resumes transit of Russian oil.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

According to Fico, blocking transit harms the entire European Union<\/span><\/span> .<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

He added that until Slovakia<\/span><\/span> coordinates its position with the European Commission and Hungary<\/span><\/span> , a meeting with Zelenskyy makes no sense.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

“I think a meeting with President Zelenskyy will take place later. We haven’t yet agreed on a location. Until Slovakia and Hungary coordinate their position with the European Commission, this meeting is pointless. President Zelenskyy demonstratively refuses to allow oil to pass through his territory,” Fico said.<\/p>\n

Zelenskyy previously invited Fico to Ukraine amid<\/a> an energy dispute.<\/p>\n
