On March 5, the first stage of a large-scale prisoner of war exchange between Ukraine and Russia took place. Two hundred Ukrainian defenders returned home.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was reported by the I Want to Live<\/span><\/span> project, which operates within the framework of the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War<\/span><\/span> .<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

According to the project, the current exchange is only the first stage of the agreements reached during the negotiations in Geneva<\/span><\/span> .<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

As part of the exchange on March 5, Ukraine returned 200 of its troops, while the Russian side received 200 of its soldiers.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

I Want to Live<\/span><\/span> noted that the exchange would continue the next day.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

“Today, 200 defenders of Ukraine returned home, and Russia took back 200 of its soldiers. Tomorrow, the exchange will continue with an even larger number of prisoners of war,” the statement reads.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets<\/span><\/span> also confirmed that the current exchange is the first stage in implementing the agreements reached.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, Ukraine and Russia conducted the latest round of prisoner of war exchanges<\/a> . Two hundred people were returned from Russian captivity. <\/p>\n
