The panel of judges of the Supreme Court’s Cassation Chamber continues to consider Petro Poroshenko’s lawsuit against President Zelenskyy to overturn the illegal sanctions decree.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Today’s session is once again being held in a small room, which cannot accommodate all participants, audience members, media, or representatives of diplomatic missions. Last time , diplomats and members of parliament were forced to sit on the windowsill<\/a> . <\/p>\n

At the recent meeting, Petro Poroshenko noted<\/a> that the government continues to drag out the trial. He stated that, over the course of a year, the authorities have failed to provide the public with the evidence on which they based their sanctions. Poroshenko also recalled that he authored the Sanctions Law, and during the parliamentary debate, it was clearly stated that sanctions cannot be applied to Ukrainian citizens. <\/p>\n

Earlier in the case,<\/a> it became known that some of the documents on the basis of which the sanctions were imposed were submitted to the National Security and Defense Council retroactively, after the decision had been made and the Decree had been signed.<\/p>\n

Poroshenko’s lawyers have added documents to the case file proving the identical wording in publications about Poroshenko on resources linked to Portnov, in the corresponding petition<\/a> , which did not receive the necessary votes, and in the justification for sanctions in President Zelenskyy’s decree.<\/p>\n

The court also included in the case file the ECHR’s<\/a> decision of October 16, 2025, in which the European Court of Human Rights found that sanctioned persons in Ukraine lacked sufficient opportunity to protect their rights and due procedural guarantees against arbitrariness during judicial review of the decision to impose sanctions.<\/p>\n

At previous Supreme Court hearings, evidence of falsified sanctions against Poroshenko was examined. Poroshenko’s lawyers showed<\/a> a film produced by the 1+1 television channel in which Zelenskyy directly admitted that the National Security and Defense Council is his weapon and that he uses it because it’s more effective than following the law.<\/p>\n

Government officials also stated that sanctions against Poroshenko were imposed for educational purposes. President Zelenskyy’s representative to the Supreme Court also acknowledged<\/a> that amendments had been made to the signed decree implementing the National Security and Defense Council’s decision to impose sanctions against Poroshenko, which she described as “technical corrections.”<\/p>\n

President Zelenskyy’s spokesperson also confirmed earlier during the meeting<\/a> that the National Bank of Ukraine illegally imposed financial restrictions on Petro Poroshenko.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
