The 2026 Winter Paralympic Games will begin on Friday, March 6. The competition will begin two weeks after the conclusion of the Winter Olympics.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Games will be held in northern Italy. The main host city will be Milan, with some of the starts taking place in other locations in the region.<\/p>\n

The official opening ceremony will take place in Verona. It will be held at the Verona Arena, which can accommodate up to 22,000 spectators. The ceremony will begin at 9:00 p.m.<\/strong> Kyiv time.<\/p>\n

Ukraine will compete with a record-breaking contingent at the 2026 Paralympic Games. Our country will be represented by 35 athletes \u2014 25 Paralympic athletes and 10 Guide athletes.<\/p>\n

Ukrainians will compete for medals in biathlon, cross-country skiing, alpine skiing, and snowboarding.<\/p>\n

There will be no official broadcast of the opening ceremony in Ukraine. Public broadcasters refused to show the event after the International Paralympic Committee decided to allow athletes from Russia and Belarus to participate in the Games without restrictions.<\/p>\n

According to the organization’s decision, athletes from these countries will be able to perform under their own flags and anthems. It was precisely because of the reluctance to broadcast the symbols of the aggressor states that the Ukrainian broadcaster decided not to show the ceremony.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, Finland will miss the opening ceremony of the 2026 Winter Paralympic Games in protest<\/a> against the participation of representatives of Russia and Belarus under their flags.<\/p>\n

As reported, eleven states, along with the European Union, announced a boycott of the opening ceremony of the Paralympic Games due to the International Paralympic Committee’s decision to allow athletes from Russia and Belarus to compete under national flags and anthems.<\/p>\n

Canada, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland, Finland, Croatia, the Czech Republic and Germany joined the boycott.<\/a><\/p>\n

Subsequently , Austria, Great Britain and Romania also announced that their representatives would not attend the opening ceremony of the 2026 Paralympic Games.<\/a><\/p>\n
