The National Bank of Ukraine is working to return the cargo from the collection vehicles that were detained by the Hungarian authorities.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was reported by<\/a> the Chairman of the NBU, Andriy Pyshny.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

According to him, Oschadbank’s collectors have already returned to the territory of Ukraine<\/a> and are safe.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

“The most important first stage has been overcome – Ukrainian citizens are free and safe. We are continuing to work to return the cargo as soon as possible,” Pyshny noted.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The head of the National Bank called the situation with the detention of Ukrainian collectors a provocation and stated that there were no legal grounds for their detention.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

According to him, the video of the detention was reminiscent of the events of 2014, when militants at checkpoints in Donbas stopped debt collection vehicles at gunpoint.<\/p>\n

Pyshny stressed that the fact that the Ukrainians were released indicates that there were no legal grounds for their detention. He also called the actions of the Hungarian authorities illegal.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, Foreign Minister Andriy Szybiga stated that Hungarian authorities in Budapest detained seven Ukrainian citizens \u2014 employees of Oschadbank \u2014 and seized the money they were transporting.<\/a><\/p>\n

It should be noted that Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban visited the country’s anti-terrorist center on the day of the seizure of Ukrainian tax collection vehicles that were transiting through Hungary to Ukraine<\/a> . Later that day, security officers from this unit seized tax collection vehicles with currency and gold.<\/p>\n

As reported, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommends that Ukrainians refrain from traveling to Hungary.<\/a><\/p>\n

Subsequently, the media reported that seven Oschadbank collectors, who had previously been detained in Hungary, had been deported from the country.<\/a><\/p>\n
