Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico said the country could block a 90 billion euro European Union loan for Ukraine. He said Slovakia is ready to adopt Hungary’s position in the event of a change of government in that country after the elections.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He said<\/a> this during his video address.<\/p>\n

Fico noted that he plans to discuss issues related to the operation of the Druzhba oil pipeline with the head of the European Commission.<\/p>\n

According to him, Slovakia can offer its assistance if technical work on the pipeline is necessary.<\/p>\n

“But the most important message will be that Slovakia is ready to take over from Hungary if necessary,” said Robert Fico.<\/p>\n

He also recalled that the European Union loan for Ukraine in the amount of 90 billion euros is currently effectively blocked.<\/p>\n

Fico stated that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky allegedly expects oil supplies to resume in a month or a month and a half, after the elections in Hungary.<\/p>\n

“However, I am not naive. The Ukrainian president has recently been talking about resuming supplies in a month and a half. That is, after the elections in Hungary, where he is counting on the victory of the opposition. Then there will be no chance for oil from the east. Unless someone else takes over the Hungarian baton,” said Robert Fico.<\/p>\n

He also added that he sees blocking this loan as a tool of influence to restore oil supplies.<\/p>\n

“Blocking this huge military gift to Ukraine is a legitimate tool to achieve the restoration of oil supplies,” said Robert Fico.<\/p>\n

According to the Slovak Prime Minister, further decisions on this issue will depend on the position of the European Union.<\/p>\n

“In any case, now it’s the European Union’s turn,” Robert Fico added.<\/p>\n

The day before, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said that Ukraine was blocking the transportation of oil through the Druzhba pipeline and threatened to resume the process by force.<\/a><\/p>\n

By the way, some pro-Ukrainian European states and the European Commission are putting pressure on Ukraine<\/a> over the Druzhba oil pipeline. At the same time, the European Union is considering the option of allocating funding<\/a> to Ukraine for the repair of the Druzhba oil pipeline.<\/p>\n

Earlier, Hungarian Foreign Minister P\u00e9ter Szijj\u00e1rt\u00f3<\/span><\/span> said that his country would block the adoption of the 20th package of sanctions against Russia.<\/a> Later, it became known that the foreign ministers of the European Union countries did not reach an agreement on the 20th package of sanctions against Russia.<\/a><\/p>\n

As a reminder, the European Commission is demanding that Ukraine set clear deadlines for repairing the Druzhba pipeline.<\/a> The pipeline supplied Russian oil to Europe and was damaged at the beginning of the year.<\/p>\n
