The United States has concentrated a group of strategic bombers at the British Fairford air base.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is reported by<\/a> DefenseGeek.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

According to the publication, the base currently has 11 aircraft – eight B-1B Lancer bombers and three B-52H Stratofortresses. This is about nine percent of the entire active fleet of these types of aircraft in the US Air Force.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Some of the bombers were previously based at Ramstein Air Base in Germany, where they were temporarily relocated due to difficult weather conditions. They are now expected to be permanently relocated to the UK to carry out scheduled missions.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

As the publication notes, the concentration of such a number of long-range strike aircraft at one forward base is quite significant even for the scale of the US Air Force.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

This makes it possible to form large aviation groups to conduct serial strike missions or practice large-scale operations.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Such a deployment is also seen as a signal of NATO’s readiness to respond quickly to possible strategic-level threats.<\/p>\n
