Iran’s newly elected Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei was injured on the first day of the US and Israeli military operation.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This<\/span> was reported<\/span><\/a> by The New York Times.<\/span><\/p>\n

Since the announcement of the son of the assassinated Ayatollah Ali Khamenei as the new Iranian leader, he has not made a single statement and has not appeared in public.<\/span><\/p>\n

The publication’s sources cited two possible reasons \u2014 fears that any message could reveal his location, and injuries sustained during the attack.<\/span><\/p>\n

Later, in an interview with the Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Bahai<\/span> confirmed<\/span><\/a> that the Supreme Leader had been injured.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cHe is injured, but he is doing well. I don\u2019t know when he will make his first speech,\u201d the official said.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to the NYT, Mojtaba Khamenei suffered leg injuries, but he remained conscious after the attack.<\/span><\/p>\n

The leader is currently hiding in a “very secure” location with limited communications.<\/span><\/p>\n

Earlier, Iran’s Assembly of Experts, at an extraordinary meeting, elected Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei as the country’s new supreme leader<\/a> . He became the third spiritual leader of the republic after the death of his father.<\/p>\n
