Israel is preparing for a large-scale ground operation in Lebanon, deploying three divisions to the northern border. The operation could be the largest in 20 years.<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to journalists, Israeli and American officials announced plans for an expanded military operation.<\/p>\n

The reason for Israel’s change of approach was the missile strike carried out by Hezbollah and Iran on March 11. According to sources, more than 200 missiles were fired from Lebanese territory, as well as dozens of missiles from Iran.<\/p>\n

After this attack, Israel changed its strategy in the northern direction. Until then, Jerusalem had refrained from escalation on the border with Lebanon, focusing on the confrontation with Iran.<\/p>\n

“Before this attack, we were ready for a ceasefire in Lebanon, but after it there is no turning back from a large-scale operation,” a senior Israeli official said.<\/p>\n

According to sources, the aim of the operation is to establish control over the territory south of the Litani River, push Hezbollah militants north, and destroy the group’s weapons depots.<\/p>\n

“We are going to do what we did in Gaza,” an Israeli official said.<\/p>\n

Thus, on March 13, the Israeli army announced the sending of additional reinforcements to the northern border and the mobilization of reservists.<\/p>\n
