Ukraine has agreed to the European Union’s offer of financial and technical assistance to restore the Druzhba oil pipeline, which was damaged by Russian strikes.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was stated<\/a> by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.<\/p>\n

The EC President reported that European experts are already ready to join the work.<\/p>\n

“The EU has offered Ukraine technical support and funding. The Ukrainians have welcomed this offer and accepted it. European experts are available immediately,” she noted.<\/p>\n

According to her, the main task is to ensure energy security in Europe. The EU will also continue to work on alternatives to Russian oil for the countries of Central and Eastern Europe.<\/p>\n

A joint statement<\/a> with the President of the European Council, Ant\u00f3nio Costa, notes that after the attacks on Druzhba, the European Union has begun active negotiations with Ukraine and European countries on the resumption of oil supplies to Hungary and Slovakia.<\/p>\n

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that the repair of the bypass line is almost complete.<\/p>\n

“We expect that in about a month and a half the Brody pumping station will restore its technical performance. This will ensure the full restoration of flows, provided there are no new attacks,” he noted.<\/p>\n

At the same time, according to preliminary estimates, the damaged reservoir cannot be restored. Therefore, Ukraine is considering the option of building underground storage facilities as a more reliable solution for the future.<\/p>\n

Recall that some European countries and the European Commission are asking Ukraine to provide access to the damaged section of the Druzhba oil pipeline<\/a> .<\/p>\n

As reported, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban announced a possible interruption of electricity supplies to Ukraine if oil transit through the Druzhba oil pipeline is not resumed<\/a> . According to him, a significant part of electricity comes to Ukraine from Hungary, and its interruption could have consequences.<\/p>\n
