Such rhetoric has sparked a wave of discussions about the legality and ethics of such steps within the walls of the Verkhovna Rada.

Political scientist Oleg Sahakyan told this on the air of “Pryamoy”

According to him, the leader of the “Servant of the People” faction, David Arakhamia, had to justify the words of the head of state. In particular, it was said that the president was allegedly misunderstood, and it was only about the deputies’ voluntary desire to join the ranks of the Armed Forces. However, the initial message sounded much tougher and more direct.

“The president didn’t talk about that. The president said exactly what he said there in black and white. If any of the deputies wants to retire from parliament, then in that case they have only one way to continue serving, only to serve at the front,” the political scientist noted.

https://youtu.be/iYFEIJi7Wvo?t=88

“Deputies are tired”: what is happening in the Verkhovna Rada

At the same time, he emphasized that such simple solutions are populist in nature and do not help overcome the real parliamentary crisis. Moreover, such initiatives look like an attempt at intimidation, which contradicts democratic norms. A separate question arises regarding women deputies, whose fate within the proposed bill has not been specified, – added Oleg Sahakyan.

In addition, in his opinion, Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s latest statements indicate an attempt to separate his own reputation from the activities of the parliamentary faction. Sahakyan noted that such a manipulative scheme resembles a game of “good cop and bad cop.”

While the president is harshly criticizing the deputies, the faction leadership is trying to find softer formulations to calm the situation, which indicates a lack of solidarity within the power vertical, the political scientist explained.

“It seems that the president is distancing himself from his own faction. What about one team? What about the captain on the ship? The captain from the ship went to a separate neighboring ship, which goes to the bottom and says: “Yes, but I don’t even know what a ship is. And the truth is, I wasn’t the captain there, so it’s not me and it’s not mine,” Oleg Sahakyan ironically says.

Until the thunder strikes: why the government ignores the collapse of the monomajority

Earlier, People’s Deputy Oleksandr Yurchenko reported on a TV channel that there are many deputies in the Verkhovna Rada who are “tired of working” in parliament. They have allegedly already written applications for a mandate.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that either the deputies will have to work , or he is ready to initiate a review of the changes to mobilization so that they can fight. According to the head of state, another option for solving the problem with voting in the Rada is changes to the legislation and holding elections, but these are impossible during a war.

As is known, the parliamentary coalition faced serious difficulties in passing government bills. The Verkhovna Rada effectively stopped supporting the initiatives of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, as evidenced in particular by the failure of the vote on the bank profit tax.

At the same time, the first deputy head of the Servant of the People faction, Andriy Motovylovets, reported that it has become much more difficult for the party to collect votes in parliament, and its stable core has shrunk . According to him, previously the faction leadership could count on approximately 180 deputies who consistently supported the vote, and now the “core” consists of 111 deputies.

Also follow “Pryamim” on Facebook , X , Telegram , and Instagram.

The crisis in the Ukrainian parliament is deepening due to ambiguous statements by the state’s top leadership regarding sending to the front those deputies who plan to resign early.
